We see it all the time, you know the web sites that have those time stamps at the bottom of the page that read "Date of last update, 10/31/2002." Well, I guess that business isn't really IN business anymore if nothing has changed in 5 years!

Project: Web redesign & ongoing maintenance

It has been our experience that the #1 mistake companies make with their web sites is failing to update the content of their site. With the internet continuing to grow and expand and more and more companies competing for business, web maintenance has never more important to ensure the continued success of your internet presence.

How often should you update?

That really varies from industry to industry. Some industries have seasons, such as retail, wedding, catering, travel, and real estate. Their updates would be on a more frequent basis. For service oriented businesses and some business-to-business, updates should be done on either a quarterly or bi-annual basis. To help you determine how often your site needs to be updated, here's a maintenance suggestion list divided up by industry.

What type of things could you update?
Maintenance could include offering special monthly discounts, starting a customer loyalty program, new product or service announcements, newsletters, press releases, invitations to workshops, useful tips, news or articles. For even more effective results, start an e-mail marketing campaign to let your customers know about the changes to your site. Need help with content? We can help you with that too!
